Racing Louisville & LouCity Celebrate Pride 2024

From matches and a four-day summit to merchandise and fundraisers, there are several opportunities for fans to celebrate this Pride month. Louisville’s professional soccer clubs will celebrate Pride throughout the month of June, starting with an upcoming doubleheader home game weekend. To start, Racing Louisville hosts Pride Night on Friday, June 7, during their match against the Houston Dash at Lynn Family Stadium. The first 1,500 fans in attendance received a free reversible bucket hat! On Saturday, June 8, LouCity’s Pride Night will feature a Pride flag giveaway to the first 1,000 fans thanks to U.S. Bank.

All proceeds from a line of team-branded Pride merchandise, available online and in Lynn Family Stadium’s Team Store, will benefit Louisville Youth Group (LYG). This organization is committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment for LGBTQIA+ youth and their allies. Through various programs and experiences, LYG aims to equip young individuals with the skills and opportunities needed to flourish as leaders within their communities.

After each match this weekend, fans can extend the festivities by joining the official Pride Night after-party at Play Dance Bar, where admission is free with a match ticket. Stay tuned on LouCity’s After Party Facebook event and Racing Louisville’s After Party Facebook event!

The celebrations don’t end after the opening weekend festivities! Throughout the month of June, representatives of both clubs are teaming up for a fundraising campaign with Athlete Ally, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting LGBTQIA+ inclusion in sports. LouCity player Sam Gleadle is leading the charge, encouraging fans to make a pledge around predetermined parameters such as wins or goals scored in June. Fans can also make a general, one-time donation.

On Saturday, June 29th, both clubs will welcome Athlete Ally as they celebrate their Student-Athlete Activism Summit in partnership with the University of Louisville. The Summit is a one-of-a-kind 4-day event for LGBTQ+ collegiate student athletes and their allies, happening from June 27-30. Racing Louisville head coach Bev Yanez and assistant coach Carmelina Moscato will also speak at the Summit.

There are numerous opportunities for Racing Louisville and LouCity fans to celebrate! In fact, later this summer, Lynn Family Stadium will host a Louisville Pride Foundation social support group. The clubs are also planning to have a presence at the Louisville Pride Foundation’s annual Pride Festival held in September in the Highlands neighborhood.
