Racing Louisville Hosts Pride Night

The city’s waterfront view sets the stage with its breathtaking beauty of Friday night’s matchup between Racing Louisville FC and Houston Dynamo FC at Lynn Family Stadium. The weather, a perfect blend of warmth and clarity, added to the excitement of the evening. The match remained tight throughout the first half, with both teams pushing hard and earning yellow cards along the way. Racing had several near misses, but it wasn’t until the second half that the momentum truly shifted.

It was close for the first half and both teams played tough, collecting yellow cards. Racing made a few close calls but nothing stuck until the second half. Fans erupted into cheers early in the second half; Uchenna Kanu’s shot was deflected butSavannah DeMelo was there to fire it in at the 62 minute mark.

A few minutes later Kanu attempted another shot with a header from a corner kick, but Houston’s keeper was there to stop it. At the 84 minute mark Parker Goins entered the match eager to add to the leaders board. A minute later Goins heads in an assist from DeMelo, increasing Racing’s lead 2-0.

Louisville’s professional soccer clubs will celebrate Pride throughout the month of June, starting with this weekend’s doubleheader home game weekend. To start, Racing hosted Pride Night on Friday, June 7, during their match against the Houston Dash at Lynn Family Stadium. The first 1,500 fans in attendance received a free reversible bucket hat!

All proceeds from a line of team-branded Pride merchandise, available online and in Lynn Family Stadium’s Team Store, will benefit Louisville Youth Group (LYG). LYG is committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment for LGBTQIA+ youth and their allies. Through various programs and initiatives, LYG aims to equip young individuals with the skills and opportunities needed to flourish as leaders within their communities.

On Saturday, June 8, fans can return to Lynn Family Stadium to celebrate LouCity’s Pride Night, which will feature a Pride flag giveaway to the first 1,000 fans thanks to U.S. Bank. After each match this weekend, fans can extend the festivities by joining the official Pride Night after-party at Play Dance Bar, where admission is free with a match ticket. Stay tuned by joining LouCity’s After Party Facebook event!
