Milwaukee started strong, with forward Kayla Rollins scoring the first goal, but NKU Norse stayed strong. They regrouped and pressed on, pushing back with a goal from Emilie Doersching in the second half, leveling the score and injecting new energy into the game. Unfortunately for NKU, Milwaukee responded quickly, with Rollins netting a penalty goal that would ultimately secure Milwaukee’s victory.

While the final score didn’t favor NKU, the team’s performance was praiseworthy. NKU led Milwaukee in shots—a testament to their offensive drive and tactical prowess. Despite their inability to break through Milwaukee’s defense a second time, NKU fought hard until the last whistle, demonstrating the strength and resilience that carried them through a successful 12-7-1 season.

The team’s achievements didn’t go unrecognized, with players Kylie Anderson, Emilie Doersching, and Kaya Vogt earning All-Tournament honors. Their contributions were instrumental in NKU’s journey to the championship game, and their presence on the Horizon League’s All-Tournament team underscored their impact and leadership on the field.

As the season ends, NKU fans have every reason to be proud. This championship run adds to the legacy of a program that is clearly on the rise, and the team’s tenacity in the face of tough competition is a promising indicator of even more success to come.

Looking ahead, NKU women’s soccer will undoubtedly build on this experience as they aim for another shot at the title next season. With a strong foundation, a talented roster, and the support of their fans, they’re poised to make waves in the Horizon League and beyond.
