LouCity Host Mexico’s Atlante FC in Hispanic Celebration

Louisville City FC is set to host an exciting international friendly on Saturday as they welcome Mexico’s Atlante FC to Lynn Family Stadium. The match promises to be a spectacle both on and off the field, with a range of attractions and celebrations planned for the fans.

This international friendly against Atlante FC is only the second of its kind for Louisville City FC, following the visit from German club FC Kaiserslautern in June. Although LouCity suffered a 2-1 defeat in that match, it provided an opportunity for some of the club’s promising young players from the LouCity Academy to make their debuts.

Saturday’s game against Atlante FC comes during a busy schedule for LouCity, with five games scheduled over 15 days. This demanding fixture list may provide an opportunity for the club to give valuable minutes to their talented young players.

Defender Sean Totsch expressed his excitement about the upcoming match and the diverse fan base it is expected to attract. He emphasized the importance of enjoying stress-free soccer and playing in front of passionate fans from different Latin communities. Totsch hopes that the match will contribute to the growth of the fan base and the support for the club and the city.

Atlante FC, led by coach Mario García, boasts a roster primarily composed of domestic talents. One standout player is forward Daniel Lajud, who scored 13 goals last season and finished third in the league’s Golden Boot race.

Founded in 1916, Atlante FC has a rich history and a strong reputation in Mexican soccer. The club has achieved success in various competitions, including winning the Copa Mexico three times and the Concacaf Champions Cup (now the Champions League) twice.

Off the pitch, the Fan Zone at Lynn Family Stadium will come alive with Hispanic entertainment and cuisine. The north/waterfront end of the venue will feature a $2 beer happy hour and a performance by Ohio Valley Wrestling’s luchadors. Live music from local band +Flow will add to the vibrant atmosphere in the seltzer garden on the east side of the stadium.

Food trucks will offer authentic Hispanic cuisine, including favorites like Gustavo’s, I Love Tacos, Las Gorditas, Las Platas, and Tacos Feliz. Traditional treats such as Buñuelos and empanadas will be available at the stadium’s concession stands.

Fans can catch the LouCity-Atlante match locally on MyTV 58 and ESPN Louisville’s 680/105.7, with national streaming coverage available on ESPN+. It promises to be an exciting evening celebrating both soccer and Hispanic culture.
