BGFC Win Comfortably Away From Home
The Bowling Green Football Club (BGFC) takes the easy win on the road at Pre-College Developmental Academy 5 to 1. The victory sends the Golden Lions to second in the Kentucky/Tennessee Conference of the UPSL.
BGFC controlled the match from the very opening whistle. The Golden Lions earned their first scoring opportunity in the second minute as BGFC forward #11 Will Bryan netted home his first goal of the match.
The following 30 minutes were spent as a physical affair, with both teams having multiple opportunities. This included BGFC’s young star forward, Bryan sending a shot over the top of the goal into the woods behind the netting. BGFC keeper Oliver Gonzalez made several key saves to keep PCDA off the scoreboard.
In the 34th minute, BGFC struck home again as #23 Jarred Bastin tapped in the Golden Lion’s second goal of the first half. With a two-to-zero lead, the Golden Lions played out the first half and took their lead into the break.
BGFC saw PCDA cut into their lead in the 51st minute as PCDA had a shot ricochet off the gloves of BGFC, keep Gonzalez, and trickle into the net. However, this would be the end of the highlights for PCDA. BGFC would go on to score in the 56th as Bryan would net home his second goal, as well as in the 72nd and 88th minutes as BGFC forward Brian Guerrero scored his first two goals of his career with the Golden Lions. The two goals by Guerrero earned the team the victory and all three points for BGFC.
With the win, the Golden Lions move into second place in the Kentucky/Tennessee Conference of the UPSL. This gives BGFC an outside chance at first place (they would need Beaman United to lose their final match for BGFC to take their spot) and a solid chance to stay in second play as they host their equal in the table St. Louis City Academy next Saturday at 5 PM CST at Preston Miller Park.
